Saint John Paul II students donate hair to Wigs for Kids Foundation

One faculty member who had cancer herself said the event has impacted her life.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Students at Saint John Paul II High School donated their hair Tuesday for a good cause.

Volunteers with Supercuts set up at the campus Tuesday afternoon to collect locks of hair to be donated to cancer patients. It was done for a group called the Wigs for Kids Foundation.

One faculty member who had cancer herself said the event has impacted her life.

"They supported me like no other," Secretary Kathy Garcia said. "They have been wonderful supporters and I couldn't thank them enough."

Girls who chose to donate on Tuesday were required to cut off a minimum of eight inches. Boys cut their hair as a symbolic gesture to support the cause.
