Friday is a big day as we prepare for the 25th annual Share Your Christmas Food Drive, starting at 5 a.m. Preparations are already underway at the Food Bank of Corpus Christi.

Kiii News Reporter Bill Churchwell went Live from the Food Bank with the details.

Volunteers are already hard at work, with plenty of boxes to sort through. The donations that came in on Thursday were from area schools which are taking part in their food drives, all to benefit the Food Bank and make sure families have a warm holiday meal.

The Food Bank believes they could break a new record this year, based on the amount of donations they are already receiving from the schools.

While it may look like a lot, they still need your support. The food goes fast, and the Food Bank wants to ensure that everyone has a warm holiday meal on the table.

There are several ways to donate. You can stop by the Kiii studios or any participating HEB; but before you check your pantry, there are some do's and don'ts to keep in mind before donating.

"If you are bringing something from home, from your pantry, you need to check it," said Debra Bruce of the Food Bank of Corpus Christi. "If it's out of date, shouldn't have that. Something usable. Still current. If you wouldn't eat it, don't expect someone else to eat it."

The food drive kicks off at 5 a.m. Friday. Your favorite Kiii 3News anchors will be broadcasting Live throughout the day from various HEBs. Simply stop by and make a donation.

If you don't want to shop for food to donate, you can also make a donation at the checkout stand through our $1, $3 or $5 tear pads.
