The results of a major fundraising effort to help Driscoll Children's Hospital operate and maintain a Stripes Fun Zone for children waiting to be seen at the hospital's southside location were announced Thursday.
During a ceremony, leaders of both the hospital and Stripes announced that the convenience store chain has raised $1.17 million to be split between the Fun Zone and the Children's Miracle Network Telethon.
The Stripes Fun Zone is located at the Driscoll Children's Hospital Urgent Care Center on Saratoga.
Sam Susser, Stripes president and CEO, who also serves on Driscoll's governing board, made the announcement for the funds. He said the division of funds between the Fun Zone and the Telethon will be announced this weekend when a check presentation is made during the fundraising.
