CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was a scary morning for students at Ray High School after work spread of an attempted kidnapping.
According to Corpus Christi Independent School District police, it was just after 9 a.m. Thursday when at 16-year-old male suspect tried to kidnap his girlfriend. The suspect grabbed his girlfriend's hand and carried her away when she refused to skip class.
Police said the suspect let the girl go when he realized he couldn't run and carry her at the same time.
Campus police said a teacher and some nearby residents helped to locate the suspect.
"The community did step up to the plate on this one," Officer Robert Martinez said.
CCISD police caught and arrested the young man who will face charges of kidnapping, evading arrest, and unlawful restraint.
