A cooking demonstration was put on by the City of Corpus Christi at the Galvan House in Heritage Park on Wednesday, and the main subject was tamales.
Special guest Sandra Vasquez, famous for creating the "Mas Tamales" masa spreader found in many supermarkets, ran the class. She offered tips on how to make tamales easier, as well as sharing some of her ingredients.
"What I did by making it simpler, is using a mixer instead of our hands to make the dough," Vasquez said. "I'm going to use a food processor instead of a molino to grind the meat, and I'm going to use a tamale spreader to spread the masa instead of a spoon, all that making it easier."
Another class is going to be held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 8, at the Galvan House in Heritage Park.
