The names of 220 fallen heroes from the Coastal Bend who served in the Vietnam War were called out during a roll call Monday morning onboard the U.S.S. Lexington.
The fallen heroes from the 12-county area of the Coastal Bend are among 3,417 Texans who were killed in the Vietnam War whose names are engraved on dog tags in a special exhibit on the U.S.S. Lexington.
The special roll call ceremony was hosted by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 910, the Military Order of the Purple Hearts Alaniz-Valentine Chapter 598 and the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi. Vietnam veterans and Gold Star families were invited to the event.
