Mother's Day came early Friday in Jim Wells County as they held their third annual Mother's Day Extravaganza at the VFW Hall in Alice. The Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department and Mi Familia Adult Daycare played host to the event. Over 500 people showed up.

The Extravaganza caters to the community's elderly population and people with special needs.

"I believe that this is very important to the community, first of all because Mother's Day falls here on Sunday, and all these elderly moms that are not able to get themselves out at adult daycares are able to get them here and celebrate their Mother's Day," Mi Familia Administrator Janie Flores said.

The Extravaganza featured mariachis, dancing, door prizes, food and four hours of fun.
