U.S. Navy's first Black female TACAIR pilot receives Wings of Gold

Lieutenant Junior Grade, Madeline Swegle finished the tactical air strike aviator course earlier this month.

KINGSVILLE, Texas — The U.S. Navy's first black female tactical jet pilot was given her 'wings of gold' in a ceremony today.

The ceremony was held at NAS-Kingsville earlier today, where Lieutenant Junior Grade, Madeline Swegle and her classmates finished the tactical air strike aviator course earlier this month.

Navy officials say she is assigned to the RedHawks of training Squadron 21.
