A growing scandal within the VA hospital system has the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Erik Shinseki under fire and facing calls for his resignation. For now, the scandal centers on an Arizona hospital where as many as 40 veterans died while waiting up to nearly 2 years to see a doctor. In one case a purple heart recipient died after waiting months for a specialist to diagnose a lump found on his neck .Meantime, a doctor who retired from that hospital has exposed what he says is systematic fraud that covered up the long waits. Dr. Sam Foote claims his superiors lied about the delays in order to qualify for bonuses. The VA's inspector general is investigating 23 other deaths at 13 VA hospitals nationwide.
