Vector Control was sweeping a neighborhood on the 2800 block of Dempsey Drive, near Nueces Bay Boulevard, on Wednesday.

That area has tested positive for West Nile virus two times now, and Vector Control employees were trying to discover the source by going house to house.

They also removed manhole covers to see if there was standing water, and advised residents in that area to dispose of all containers that can hold standing water.

"They appreciate us coming out," said Tony Pantoja of Vector Control. "They will raise their hands and thank us for coming by and spraying."

Vector Control said it will take a week to know if their efforts paid off in removing West Nile from that area.
