Church leaders at one southside church are wondering who would steal from their thrift store.
The Corpus Christi Police Department said that someone broke into the thrift shop at the Wesley United Methodist Church on the 3900 block of Gollihar sometime overnight. Investigators said more than $150 was stolen from a cash register.
Church officials said, despite the money being taken and the building, they hope whoever did it seeks help from God.
"I pray for them. I pray for forgiveness. We are not going to hold anything against them," Church Office Manager Rebecca Hope said. "I don't know what type of situation they are in. I'm assuming that they are very desperate, and that this is the only way, by stealing, and I pray that Jesus enters their heart."
Hope said that they will be installing stronger security measures, including an alarm system.
