Astros/Hooks Spring Training Camp Report: Fringe players

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Being a contender in Major League Baseball means you don't have a lot of holes to fill. With the exception of a few spots, pretty much every position is filled out before spring training even begins. Tough place to be in for those knocking on the big league's doors. Take Nick Tanielu and Myles Straw for example. They did just about all they could this spring, both hitting near .350. Tanielu with four home runs and Straw with 3 stolen bases. Yet, both among today's cuts to get the active roster down to 30. Due in large part to the fact that there's simply no open spots.  They did take advantage of their time in big league camp however and made a lasting impression on the organization.
