Astros/Hooks Spring Training Camp Report: Josh James

James made his major league debut in 2018, hurling 23 innings in the regular season with a 2.35 ERA. He was tabbed as a flamethrower, reaching as high as 102 MPH on his fastball, but, that wasn't always his calling card.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former Corpus Christi Hook Josh James burst onto the scene in 2018, now he looks to use his 100 plus MPH fastball to carry him to more success in 2019. James made his major league debut in 2018, hurling 23 innings in the regular season with a 2.35 ERA. He was tabbed as a flamethrower, reaching as high as 102 MPH on his fastball, but, that wasn't always his calling card. A little over a year ago James' fastball sat in the low 90's. After being diagnosed with sleep apnea, he was able to get some rest and in turn found more velocity.
