Calallen softball preparing for first state appearance

The Wildcats will get a sendoff at the school Thursday morning.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Calallen Wildcats' softball team feels they've been underrated the majority of the season, and continue to be as they head to their first state tournament later this week.

Coach Teresa Lentz says the team that swept 29-5A champion Flour Bluff can compete with teams from the Metroplex, including their opponent this week.

The eight-ranked Wildcats get a matchup with #4 The Colony in the 5A State Semifinal Friday at 9 AM at UT's McCombs Field. The state sendoff leading up to the game will be held Thursday at 11 AM at the high school.
