CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The annual John Paul Barta Homerun Derby will have a new home this year as the participants were announced today.
The event will be at Cabaniss Field this year after having to be canceled last year due to rain over at Flour Bluff. The derby will award a college scholarship prize and will get underway at 5:30 PM Friday.
The derby is being held for the fifth time in honor of the former Flour Bluff Hornet and army specialist John Paul Barta who was killed in action in Iraq back in 2006.
