KINGSVILLE (Kiii Sports) - Texas A&M-Kingsville took rival Abilene Christian to the limit Saturday, but fell just two yards short of overtime as the Wildcats held off the Javelinas 42-34.

Trailing by eight late in the 4th, the Javs had a 4th and Goal from the 2 yard line, but senior Daniel Ramirez could not hook up with Jake Willingham and the Wildcats then ran out the clock to end the game. With the loss A&M-Kingsville fell to 5-5 on the year while Abilene Christian can lock up a playoff berth with a win over Incarnate Word next week.

The Javelinas came back multiple times throughout the game including on a couple of touchdowns from Jonathan Woodson. Woodson finished the game with 228 yards and 3 scores.

A&M-Kingsville will close out the year next week at Eastern New Mexico.
