The Robstown Independent School District has named Arturo Garcia as their new athletic director and head football coach.

The decision was made following a special meeting held by the district board of trustees Monday night.

Garcia, a South Texas native, has been with the Robstown ISD athletic program since 2016 and brings 27 years of experience with him. Before joining Robstown ISD, he held the position of athletic director at the Santa Rosa Independent School District.

Coach Garcia said the community can expect "our student athletes to be well prepared and ready to tackle new challenges. We will be

aligning all athletic endeavors with the district's vision of bringing our program to the next level."

Garcia will assume his new role effective immediately.
