HOUSTON — TxDOT crews were able to remove a big rig seen hanging off the side of the Southwest Freeway after it crashed during a rainy Saturday afternoon in Houston.

The big rig struck a concrete barrier on the Southwest Freeway near Westpark Drive. Multiple main lanes were blocked, but crews were able to clear the scene in about an hour. It is unknown whether anyone was injured.

Roads throughout Houston were slick Saturday, thanks to on-and-off downpours. The Houston area saw 2 to 4 inches of rain Friday, while 1 to 3 more inches were expected Saturday. TxDOT said there were “a number of crashes” Saturday that could be attributed to slick roads. They encourage drivers to take their time, don’t speed and keep focus on the road.
