AUSTIN, Texas — Virgin Atlantic is flying into the Austin airport with new nonstop service to one of the world's most famous cities: London!
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) announced Monday that it is welcoming Virgin Atlantic as its newest international carrier. The nonstop service between Austin and London's Heathrow Airport will be Virgin Atlantic's first new route from the U.S. since 2015.
The four-times-per-week service will launch on May 25. It will operate on the airline’s 787-9 aircraft with 31 upper class, 35 premium and 192 economy delight, classic and light seats.
“We are thrilled to welcome Virgin Atlantic to Austin and Central Texas," said Jacqueline Yaft, the chief executive officer for AUS. "This exciting new partnership helps meet our goals of continued recovery from the impacts of the pandemic and furthers our commitment to being the Gateway of Central Texas for both leisure and business travelers alike.”
AUS said that Austin is a key focus for Virgin Atlantic and its expanded joint venture partners. Delta offers connections from Austin to 10 U.S. cities, and KLM also plans to launch three-times-weekly services from Austin to Amsterdam on March 28.
In addition to passengers, the new Virgin Atlantic service to London will offer 20 tons of cargo capacity on each flight.

The flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Jan. 12, on Virgin Atlantic's website. Return economy fares start from $708 per person.
