Scattered showers Tuesday

Rain chances go up through mid-week.

TONIGHT: There are some showers and storms but mainly offshore. A small chance at a few showers drifting in tonight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy skies tonight. Overnight lows dipping down into the mid 70s. ENE wind 10-15 mph.

TUESDAY: This will be our best chance of rain. The center of the storm that we've been tracking in the Gulf of Mexico will push closer to Matagorda Bay sometime through the morning or early afternoon. We'll be on the backside of it still receiving rain through mid-week. While the bulk of heavy provoking rain will be east closer to Houston, we're still expecting to see scattered showers. Rain accumulation tomorrow could be anywhere between .50"-2" where areas closer to the coast will see more rain. Western counties will receive less rain.

LOOKING AHEAD: While the National Hurricane Center is giving that same storm a 20% chance of development, the worse case scenario would be a Tropical Depression or a weak end Tropical Storm through tomorrow. Again, this is a low end chance and not expected. For certain, this will swing a good deal of moisture and rain our way. More coverage of rain Tuesday into Wednesday.

TROPICS: Hurricane Humberto continues to be a non issue for us. It looks to stay over the open waters of the Atlantic. One tropical system in the Atlantic that bears watching has a 90% chance of developing in the next 5 days. This next system would be named Imelda when better organized. This is still a long ways out.
