CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Today- Friday:
It's another day with sunny skies across the area. Highs will be in the mid 70s today. This is near perfect. Light winds and perfect conditions. By the evening it will be great weather for the Charlotte FC game!
Overnight will fall to the upper 40s which is 2-3 degrees warmer than this morning.
Look for a nice, warm afternoon Thursday. Highs will be in the upper 70 to near 80 in a few spots. Friday will be the warmest day of the week. High temperatures should make it to the 80 degree mark, with areas east and southeast of Charlotte in the low 80s. The average high for early October is now 77 degrees.
Much cooler weather is in store for the area both Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures Saturday morning will start out in the upper 40s. During the afternoon, even under sunny skies, highs will only make it into the upper 60s. Saturday night will be clear and cold, with lows in the upper 30s to low 40s. Highs Sunday will again be in the upper 60s.
A tropical wave is several hundred miles from the Windward Islands and some slow development could happen in the next few days as it moves into the Eastern Caribbean.
Tropical Depression #12 formed Tuesday some 480 miles west of Cape Verde, which is off the coast of Africa. TD #12 is forecast to weaken by the end of the week.
The next name on the list for 2022 is "Julia" and after that "Karl. Hurricane season ends on November 30th.
Sixty-one percent of North Carolina and 36% of South Carolina are under abnormally dry conditions (shaded in yellow). This is an increase of 28% and 24% respectively. Abnormally dry conditions are a precursor to moderate drought (shaded in light brown).
