TODAY: Expect a cold and windy day. Temperatures near 40 this morning will top out near 50 this afternoon. Winds will stay strong from the north at 20-30 mph, keeping wind chill values in the upper 30s and 40s all day. Clouds gradually break apart throughout the day.

TONIGHT: With clouds departing, temperatures will be colder than last night. Lows will be close to freezing briefly in Corpus Christi. I am anticipating a light freeze for areas along and west of HWY 77. Light freeze meaning temperatures will be between 29 and 32 for a few hours. Plants and pets need to be inside, but pipes shouldn't be a concern. The main thing keeping temperatures from getting even colder will be the wind, as that will still be breezy at 10-15 mph. IF winds were calmer, we'd be looking at a hard freeze.

LOOKING AHEAD: Gradual warming trend through the remainder of the work week with mainly sunny skies. Humidity levels will be very low. Another cold morning to start Thursday (30s). By the weekend, slightly more humidity with partly cloudy skies and highs back in the 70s for Saturday. Sunday, another cold front approaches the area and brings more clouds with some passing showers.
