Hazy sunshine, high heat index and breezy

Heat index values will climb into the triple digits this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping down into the upper 70s overnight. Southeasterly winds 10-20 mph.

SUNDAY: There will continue to be lingering Saharan dust in our atmosphere which will aid in hazy sunshine for the rest of the weekend. Otherwise, mainly quiet and skies mainly clear, with high pressure in control, high temperatures should reach the mid to upper 90s under partly cloudy skies. The heat index could reach as high as 110 throughout the area. Good news, we'll carry a nice breeze through the afternoon and evening, which will provide some relief from the heat and humidity. Southeasterly winds 15-25 in the afternoon.

LOOKING AHEAD: High pressure along with an upper level ridge will gain the upper hand out to the west and northwest and downstream will be a digging trough of low pressure. Basically what this means is, the door will open for a small change in our area. A weak cold front will slide into south Texas Tuesday and depending on how far it pushes, will ignite a few isolated showers and possible storms in the area. By no means, will it get cold but at least bring afternoon temperatures down into the lower 90s which is near seasonable average. Slim rain chances stick around through Thursday.
