Houston weather timeline: We're nearly done with the freezing cold weather

We will soon be looking at daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s — finally.

HOUSTON — The bitter cold is here Friday morning with temperatures in the 20s feeling in the teens.

A hard freeze warning is set to expire for our region at 9 a.m. Friday, but we will still have one more night of freezing weather ahead of us. We'll dip into the upper-20s on Friday night into Saturday morning.

After that, we are looking at some relief in the form of a shift in the winds, bringing daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s — nearing 70 by the middle of next week.

Yes, please.

Houston weather timeline

Friday: Sunshine returns and starts to warm us up after a frigid start. Highs make it into the 40s.

Saturday: In the upper-20s in the early-morning hours. Mild and sunny with daytime temps in the 60s. A beautiful day to recover from this chaotic week.

Sunday: We’ll go from partly to mostly cloudy through the day with the rain shower potential hanging around 20% and it’s only an issue well into the evening hours.

Early next week: After some light showers Monday morning, we’ll see fairer and brighter skies moving in with our temps staying well above freezing!  We’re talking highs into the 60s and lows into the 40s.
