PORT ARANSAS (KIII NEWS) — The Texas Sandfest started 22 years ago and continues to attract thousands of visitors to the Port Aransas every year.
The event has really grown in the last six years.
18 master sculptors from around the world will take huge piles of sand and form it into beautiful gravity defined works of art.
Preparations are currently underway for the fest which takes place next weekend.
Last year, the organizers of Sandfest donated over $200,000 to the community of Port Aransas. The money was donated to the local food pantry, local theater, and some other non-profits in town. Some local high school students also received scholarships.
