Forever Family | Sierra family opens their hearts and home to adoption

Baby girl Stella finds her Forever Home.

SAN ANTONIO — There is nothing better than 'Gotcha Day' for adoptive families. And that was just late last month for Meghan and Andre Sierra.

They welcomed KENS 5 into their home this week to share their adoption journey after the couple wasn't unable to get pregnant for the second time. While dealing with those emotions they decided to open their hearts to the idea of fostering to adopt.

"It felt more hopeless than hopeful in what we were doing," said Meghan. "Since adoption was on my heart I thought this it, and this is where we are headed. We were gonna down that road and see what happened, and I'm so glad we did."

We enjoyed visiting with the Sierra family, and Andre shared a story about how the idea of fostering to adopt first came into the conversation.

"It was Christmas Eve 2021, and I was packing up Christmas presents in the back of our car and I looked up and saw a shooting star," he said. "I said Lord please give us a baby. That was when Meghan said why don't we foster. I was hesitant. I wanted to see the lay of the land and how all of this would work. We were licensed in December 2022 and on December 23 Stella showed up on our doorstep."

Newborn baby girl Stella was delivered to them with only four hours notice that night, not at all uncommon in the child welfare world. And now, just more than one year later, the journey is complete with Stella having been adopted. She has her 'Forever Home' and the Sierra family is now forever complete!

"Being able to adopt her one month after Christmas, we already love Christmas, and it is our favorite time of the year. We are November 1st type Christmas people," Andre said, laughing. "This is all so special now that it is happened around that time."

Andre and Meghan both shared that they are so excited to be 'girl dad' and 'girl mom' respectively. It has only added to the already existing love in their home.

"She is my baby girl," said Andre. "Loving her and showing her what a loving family is really what it is all about."

"All the love in the world," said Meghan. "I definitely think that Stella was our missing piece. She just brings a lot of joy into our home."

Andre shared with us that every day is just about love.

"Being a father and a husband is the best thing I've ever done," he said.

"She was meant to be here," said Meghan.
