Judy Hawley inducted into Texas Transportation Hall of Honor

Judy Hawley said the congratulations should really go to many people from the area who have also been promoting those projects.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Several dozen area dignitaries gathered Thursday at the Texas State Aquarium to honor a lady who has worked hard over the years to improve transportation in South Texas.

Judy Hawley, a former state representative and former Port Commission chair, was formally inducted into the Texas Transportation Hall of Honor, a part of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute.

Hawley, who is now retired, was said to be instrumental in such area road projects as the Highway 69 trade corridor and the new Harbor Bridge. She was also working for much of the past 20 years in securing funding for the deepening and widening of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel. She said the congratulations should really go to many people from the area who have also been promoting those projects.

Former Secretary of State Hope Andrade and State Rep. Todd Hunter were among the guest speakers on hand to honor Hawley.
