Crews clear illegal dump site under Pintas Creek bridge

Commissioner Robert Hernandez said these huge cleanups are costly and urges people to be on the lookout for anyone illegally dumping around the county.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The illegal dump site that was spotted and reported to county officials has now been cleaned up.

On March 14,  the illegal dumping site was discovered by 3NEWS along County Road 85 between Robstown and Driscoll.

The illegal dump site was happening under the bridge that goes over Pintas Creek.

There were tires, along with air conditioners, oil equipment and lots of trash.

A county environmental officer is working to try and find out who dumped those items.

In the meantime, county road crews came out and completely cleared the area of all the debris.

Commissioner Robert Hernandez said these huge cleanups are costly and urges people to be on the lookout for anyone illegally dumping around the county.

"Commissioners and employs of the county have better ways of spending y'all's money than going back and picking up trash that should have gone to the dumpsite in the first place," said Hernandez.

Each year, the county spends at least $100,000 to clean up these types of dump sites.
