CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Del Mar College is taking the next step in expanding their emergency response training program and it comes thanks to a $1.7 million investment.
During an open house on Wednesday, the college showed off some of their emergency response training equipment.
One of those pieces of equipment is known as a trench rescue prop. There are only two props in the state!
The demonstrations were all part of the college's new emergency response training program.
Dean of Industry and Public Service Davis Merrell said the goal is to offer specialty safety training here in town to hopefully keep students in the Coastal Bend workforce.
"Decided that it was best to keep those people coming to Del Mar and not going out of state or to another facility," Merrell said.
Del Mar College works closely with industry leaders, including our refineries, as they work to further develop the program's curriculum.
