Fire destroys home near Corpus Christi Trade Center

It took firefighters 25 minutes to put it out, said CCFD battalion chief Tony Perez.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Fire Department crews worked 25 minutes to put out a fire in the 5500 block of Candace Street, near the Corpus Christi Trade Center, on Friday evening.

Firefighters were called at about 4:01 p.m., where they found a fire in the back of the house facing Richter Street, said CCFD Battalion Chief Tony Perez.

It was contained to that one house, although a nearby home also lost power.

Perez said the cause is still under investigation, but it is believed that the fire started outside.

Smoke was visible in the area, but Perez said the wind direction at the time of the fire helped contain it to the one home.

No one was at home at the time of the incident, and no injuries to people were reported.
