Hotel heading to Robstown Outlet Malls

It's every shopper's dream, a place to rest after hitting the stores all day.

It's every shopper's dream, a place to rest after hitting the stores all day.

In late 2019, that dream will become a reality at the Outlets at Corpus Christi Bay. A new brand by Hilton Hotels, Tru, is being built next to the mall. The Tru Hotel brand is described as 'modern, innovative, fresh and affordable.'

General Manager with the outlets Cesar Briseno is more than excited about the significant addition.

"Not only are we gonna add a nice hotel but it's a new product the latest in the in the market," Briseno said.

Briseno says the Tru Hotel will have over 80 guest rooms and several amenities like food to-go and a business center. He hopes the hotel will bring in more people from surrounding cities to not only shop but stay the night as well.

"We're hoping to have more tourism. We're also hoping that our customer who comes from the valley or Houston or San Antonio they have this as an option to stay," Briseno added.

A junior at Robstown High School Bridget Garcia said she was elated when the mall first open and the continuous additions are a big deal for her hometown.

"Instead of going all the way to Calallen we just go here, and the hotel's here," Garcia said.

Briseno noted that there are few places in Robstown to stay the night which forces out of town shoppers to go to a nearby town or not visit at all.

"We feel it's gonna be great," Briseno exclaimed.

The groundbreaking for Tru Hotel is slated for this summer and is expected to take around 18 months to build.
