Slight increase in Corpus Christi water usage as residents drip faucets during freeze

Overall, the city's water system held up well against the elements, Corpus Christi Water said Thursday.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — With many residents in the area dripping their faucets during the freeze -- there may have been concern over the possibility of low water pressure.

3NEWS reached out to Corpus Christi Water, who said the system performed well, overall, with no pressure problems. But it did see an approximately 15-percent increase in water usage.

The water department asks residents to remain diligent when steep drops in temperature come about, saying:

"We continue to stress the importance of preparation such as insulating outside pipes, protecting backflow preventers, and draining irrigation and pool equipment."
