TEGNA Foundation awards $10K grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend

The grant was awarded by the TEGNA Foundation Community Grants program in conjunction with the Coastal Bend Day of Giving matching gift program.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — KIII 3NEWS and the TEGNA Foundation were proud to award a $10,000 community grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend.

The grant was awarded by the TEGNA Foundation Community Grants program in conjunction with the Coastal Bend Day of Giving matching gift program, presented by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation.

3NEWS' very own Barbi Leo and Carly Smith were joined by KIII General Manager Rebecca Cantu to present the grant to Boys & Girls Clubs CEO Kim Barrientos.

"We are so excited to receive the $10,000 from KIII and TEGNA. The contribution will go very far," Barrientos said. "We will probably use it for scholarships for the youth that we serve. About 90% of them are either full scholarships or partial scholarships, so it makes a huge difference for the youth in the Coastal Bend."

BGCCB helps fill the gap between school and home for youth ages 6-18. The TEGNA Foundation Community Grant will help them expand youth learning opportunities and providing a lifeline for working parents.
