Event organizers said any gamers who want to get involved are invited to visit their website, where they can sign up to stream and choose a hospital to support.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Driscoll Children's Hospital hosted an extra special video game competition on Saturday. The 'Extra Life Game Day,' streamed live via Twitch, is part of 'Extra Life,' a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals program that unites gamers to raise funds the kids at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

Organizers waited years to be able to put on the event before finally getting the help they needed.

Ben Becak, with DCH said that they began raising money for the event at the beginning of this year and today was the celebration of all of those funds gathered to benefit children at Driscoll.

"It's a lot of fun for us because we use gaming with our own families we get to spend time together laughing and everybody gets to be a silly. it gives us a chance to cut loose a little bit."

"Being able to take that and use that for good and to benefit children and what we do on a daily basis is a lot of fun for us and it's very heartwarming for us as well."
