Why you should take care of your pancreas

This organ, located right behind the abdomen, is vital to turning our food into fuel and regulating our blood sugar levels.

corpus christi (kiiinews) — Dr. Gregg Silverman explained how the pancreas plays a role in type-1 and type-2 diabetes. The pancreas sits underneath the stomach working to produce a digestive enzyme and producing insulin.

If you experience pain in the pancreas it is typically called pancreatitis.

If you suffer from type-1 diabetes, Dr. Silverman explained cells in the pancreas are sensitive to viruses and type-2 diabetes comes about if the pancreas is not producing enough insulin.

Proper care of your pancreas is necessary if you want to avoid any of these issues including proper nutrition and don't drink excessively, added Silverman.
