WASHINGTON — For the first time in 25 years, McNugget Buddies are returning to McDonald's.

The collectibles are part of a collaboration with creative director and DJ Kerwin Frost for the fast food chain's newest adult Happy Meals.

The Kerwin Frost Box will include either a 10-piece chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac, along with fries, a soft drink and one of six McNugget Buddy collectibles, including Frost, Don Bernice, Uptown Moe, Waffutu, BRRRICK and Darla.

The company previously offered limited edition adult Happy Meals last year as part of a collaboration with Cactus Plant Flea Market, a popular streetwear brand. Those Happy Meals featured toys for grownups that were redesigned figurines of McDonald's characters, including Grimace, Hamburglar and Birdie, plus a new character named "Cactus Buddy."

The McNugget Buddies first debuted in 1988 as part of a limited time Happy Meal featuring ten different collectibles. The new versions feature mix-and-match outfits, with designs inspired by Kerwin's childhood experiences growing up in Harlem, New York, the company announced

Frost said in a press release statement that each of his McNugget Buddies represents different aspects of self-expression.

The Kerwin Frost Box will be available starting Monday, Dec. 11, for a limited time while supplies last. There is no word yet on how much each box will cost.

There will also be limited-edition merchandise from Frost available online, with a portion of proceeds supporting the Harlem Arts Alliance, a New York-based nonprofit group that plays an essential role in the lives of emerging and established artists.
