Suspect wanted in connection with February 2019 murder taken into custody

Johnny Esparza has been on the run from the law since he was indicted in June for the murder of 20-year old Parris Tipton. Esparza was captured in Corpus Christi.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A murder suspect wanted in connection with the murder of Parris Tipton was arrested Friday. Johnny Esparza, 20, was spotted along the 3600 block of Rojo Street near Del Mar College when law enforcement took him into custody.

Members of the U.S. Marshals-led Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force found Esparza and arrested him without any problems arising. Along with the murder charge, Esparza is facing charges of aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity. He is one of two people charged with the death of Parris Tipton, 20, back in February 2019.

Tipton was shot at Glen Arbor Park near Tanglewood and South Staples Street. Esparza was indicted for the killing in June 2019 and had been on the run since.
