Miller's Body returns to talk to Bucs, passing record being broken

Former QB Andrew Body was at practice Wednesday to talk to the team before a key playoff game.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Miller Buccaneers are getting ready for an in-season rematch in the playoffs and brought in a quarterback with experience in such a game.

Former Bucs QB and current Texas Southern Tiger Andrew Body was on hand at practice Wednesday to talk to the team about always keeping a "business like" mentality and taking things personally when they don't go your way in a game.

Body also discussed current Bucs' quarterback Trevor Long breaking his single-season passing touchdown record last week against Edinburg Vela. Long currently has 50 TDs heading into the game with the Victoria West Warriors.

The Warriors arguably gave Miller their toughest game of the season, a 52-45 road win by the Bucs one month ago. Body was the quarterback the last time Miller played a district opponent in the playoffs in 2019, a 56-49 loss to Veterans Memorial in the third round. That Miller team was also undefeated heading into the rivalry game and this year's squad hopes that's where the similarities end as they hope to avoid that fate.

Miller and Victoria West will face off Friday at 5 PM at Buc Stadium with the winner advance to the 5A-I State Quarterfinal against the winner of #7 PSJA North and Brownsville Veterans Memorial.

Miller Coach Justen Evans talks about what he expects the crowd to be like Friday. The Bucs have the area's only home game when they take on division foe Victoria West in the regional round. More with Miller tonight on KIII 3 News! #3SportsBlitz
