Refugio ready for state quarterfinal rematch with Ganado

The Bobcats won the district title over the Indians earlier this month.

REFUGIO, Texas — The Refugio Bobcats have a sign in their practice facility that reads "December football... it's in our blood."

The Bobcats are back playing football in the final month of the season for the second straight year as they get ready for yet another rematch. Refugio will face district foe Ganado in the 2A-I State Quarterfinal after beating the Indians 30-7 for the district title back on November 3rd.

This will be the third straight season that Refugio will face a district opponent in the playoffs after facing Shiner each of the last two years and Ganado last season in the regional round. Texas A&M commit Ernest Campbell says Coach Jason Herring has been telling them "Not to get too high" after last month's win with the bigger prize potentially coming this week: a trip to the state semis.

#2 Refugio and Ganado will face off on Thursday at 7 PM at Victoria's Memorial Stadium. The winner of that game will face the winner of #1 Timpson and Garrison next week in the 2A-I State Semifinal.

The Refugio Bobcats get set for a state quarterfinal match-up with Ganado, a team they beat less than a month ago in the district championship game, 30–7. Hear from the Bobcats coming up tonight at 6 PM!
