On the Diamond: Vets tops Ray for district title; King swept by Victoria East

Vets won, 2-1, after a walk-off in the 7th inning. Victoria East run-rules King in five innings, 11-0.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The four District 29-5A baseball playoff spots were determined Friday in three different series sweeps.

In the district championship series, Veterans Memorial rallied past Ray in the 7th inning of game two to top the Texans, 2-1. Both Eagles runs came in the 7th inning, including the walk-off hit from Sophomore Julian Coalsa. Vets is now a back-to-back district champion.

Victoria East dominated against King, 11-0, in five innings after a run-rule. The Titans claimed the No. 3 seed out of the district.

Carroll fell to Victoria West, 8-4, in the second game of that series. That gives the Warriors the No. 4 seed for their district.
