Spurs News: Spurs reportedly heading to France, UT Health Center at The Rock, Austin Spurs remain undefeated and more

SAN ANTONIO — It's time to catch up on some San Antonio Spurs news that you may have missed.

UT HEALTH SAN ANTONIO COMING TO THE ROCK

The Rock at La Cantera announced it will lease space to UT Health San Antonio in a medical office building to be built on the Spurs performance campus. It is expected to break ground in the first half of 2024 and will be 60,000 square feet in total. This office space is one element of the multi-year partnership between the Spurs and UT Health San Antonio, announced in September.

“The opportunities for research, learning and innovation within this building are endless and having a world-renowned academic medical center like UT Health San Antonio as its anchor sets a standard of excellence for all other tenants to follow,” said RC Buford, Chief Executive Officer for Spurs Sports & Entertainment in a release. “As The Rock at La Cantera transforms in front of our eyes into the world-class human performance campus we always envisioned, we’re looking forward to the medical office building’s groundbreaking to tip-off phase two of the process.”

SPURS GOING TO FRANCE?

According to a report via The Athletic, the Spurs are reportedly set to play a game in France next season. 

The report states that the Spurs have agreed in principle to participate in a Paris game in 2025 and plans are already underway to make this happen.

If true, it will certainly bring a smile to Victor Wembanyama to play in front of fans in his home country.

AUSTIN SPURS REMAIN UNDEFEATED & HOSTING A SPURS VIEWING PARTY

Austin is on a hot streak right now and remains undefeated at 5-0 in the regular season after the team recently beat the Ignite, 105-104.

The team also announced it will be having a San Antonio game viewing party versus the Celtics on Jan. 17. 

TONY PARKER HEADING TO FRANCE FOR THE 2024 OLYMPICS

The NBA announced that it'll be joining the French Basketball Federation and the LNB Betclic ELITE – France’s top professional basketball league – on several initiatives to expand youth basketball development in France ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic games in Paris, where basketball will be a featured sport.

 Tony Parker will be participating in a series of basketball-related clinics and workshops.

The team announced it will be hosting Pride Night on Jan. 12 and will be featuring a pregame pride fest and more.

OSMAN AND MITCHELL JERSEY SWAP

Spurs' Cedi Osman and Cavs' Donovan Mitchell recently swapped jerseys. The pair teamed up in Cleveland before Osman joined the Spurs.
