Suspect in Breanna Wood murder case in court for pre-trial hearing

A trial date has still not been set.

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) — One of the suspects accused in the 2016 murder of Breanna Wood appeared in court Friday for a pre-trial hearing.

Sandra Vasquez is one of three people charged with capital murder in relation to the crime, along with Joseph Tejeda and Christopher Gonzalez.

A trial date for Vasquez has still not been set. Tejeda is expected in court for a status hearing Monday where a trial date for him is expected to bet chosen. Vasquez will be tried after Tejeda.

Wood's body was found buried in a wooden box in rural Nueces County. She was said to have been beaten and then fatally shot. Tejeda was arrested for the crime and has been in jail awaiting trial, but since then several other suspects have been arrested and charged for their alleged involvement in the crime.

Vasquez faces charges of capital murder, engaging in organized criminal activity and aggravated robbery.
