CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Nueces County ESD #2 was dispatched to Padre Island just before 9 p.m. Friday after reports of a fire.
Firefighters at the scene say downed power lines are to blame for sparking the fire. Over 50 acres was burned, but no property damage or injuries have been reported.
Firefighters say they will remain at the scene through the night to keep putting out hot spots.
