There's been a lot of people trying to find their barbeque fix since Joe Cotten's burned down. The Robstown restaurant had been around for 60 years until it went up in flames in March 2011. Wednesday, it was finally being torn down.
The one rumor that continues to make its way around the Coastal Bend is that Joe Cotten's is going to re-open.
We found the answer to that question after we stumbled upon the restaurant demolition work underway along State Highway 77.
The burned up building had been sitting here since it caught fire on March 2, 2011 while people were eating dinner. Fortunately, everyone got out in time, but the barbeque joint ended up a burning down. Wednesday, crews were out to tear the place completely down.
The new Cotten's Catering will be run by Kenneth Cotten. It will be located along Lantana off Leopard. A catering business that will also offer takeout.
We're not sure when that Cotten's catering is set to open, but business owners along that street who we spoke with about it, are ready to place their orders.
