Monday morning fire leaves one displaced

The Red Cross is helping the person find shelter after a housefire took place Monday morning. Crews are waiting on AEP before they can further respond.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — One Corpus Christi resident is being helped by the Red Cross Monday morning after escaping a housefire on the city's northwest side.

Fire crews responded to heavy flames and smoke coming from 1204 Main Drive just after 5 a.m.

The resident who escaped the house reported that the fire was in the attic.

Crews were able to put out the blaze in about 10-15 minutes, but it was later discovered that a live wire went down after the flames burned off the weather protector. AEP crews were on the way to make sure the scene was safe.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
