CCISD prepares for changes thanks to Bond 2018

Administrators with the district said though your property taxes will see an increase of 6.6-cents, it is all about keeping the district moving forward.

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) — The Corpus Christi Independent School District is getting ready to undergo some major changes thanks to voters.

The District's $210 million bond was approved by voters during the November elections. The bond, known as CCISD Bond 2018, will go toward building a new campus for Carroll High School in Corpus Christi; but a portion of the money will also go toward more than 46 campuses in need of upgrades like added security and even new technology.

Administrators with the district said though your property taxes will see an increase of 6.6-cents, it is all about keeping the district moving forward.

"The city's success and our success are tied together, and we want to keep continuing on this trajectory that we've been on," CCISD Spokesperson Leanne Libby said. "You know since 2008, we've been building new schools across the city and we want to just keep this progress going."

Administrators said that $12 million of the funding will help update schools' WiFi systems and add new computer labs to some campuses. Most importantly, some 46 schools will now have much needed security upgrades.
