CC City Council honors service individuals in ceremonial meeting

Five individuals were honored for their dedication, commitment and service to the Coastal Bend.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — City council hosted a special ceremony Tuesday honoring some special individuals.

Five individuals were honored for their dedication, commitment and service to the Coastal Bend.

Mayor Paulette Guajardo said she was proud to see the service personnel honored. 

"This is extremely important to me, you know, because of, you know the strong passion that I have, that our council has, that our community has, for our naval installation, our Army depot and everything that happens there. 

Michael Ensign, Nathaniel Pyle, Jeffrey Hawkins, Crystal Leal and Ricardo Yglesias were all recognized at the ceremony in their respective titles.

  • Commendation honoring Captain Michael Ensign as Civilian of the Year for Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. 

  • Commendation honoring Assistant Fire Chief Nathaniel A. Pyle as Senior Civilian of the Year for Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. 

  • Commendation honoring Fire Chief Jeffrey Hawkins as Civilian Supervisor of the Year for Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. 

  • Commendation honoring Ms. Crystal Leal as the 2023 Donald F. Luce Depot Maintenance Artisan of the Year for Corpus Christi Army Depot. 

  • Commendation honoring Sergeant Ricardo Yglesias as Soldier of the Year for Corpus Christi Army Depot.
