Greek Orthodox Church prepares for annual Christmas bake sale

It's a big Christmas tradition for the church that dates back 27 years.

Corpus Christi (KIII News) — How about some baklava to go along with your charitable donations this year?

The ladies of the National Philoptochos Society are putting on their annual bake sale this weekend. They'll be selling Greek bread and pastries, and are hoping to sell between $7,000-$10,000 worth of goods so they can give back.

It's an event that not only benefits the community but also keeps the organizers going year after year.

"It's spiritually fulfilling because you're doing charitable work, and it's not for your benefit. It's for someone else's. And to see someone else's face shine with, glee -- it's just an awesome feeling."

The sale will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Parrish Hall, located at 502 South Chapparal Street.
