Need county information? Nueces County's original web site is fully operational

County judge Connie Scott told 3NEWS on Tuesday that the original domain was available for renewal, and that the transition to nuecescountytx.gov will come later.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Do you need to know where the nearest polling location is, or need to make a payment or apply for a county with Nueces County? Good news: Its website is back up.

The county announced Saturday morning that nuecesco.com domain again was operational.

"So it wasn't up for sale as we had originally been told, but it just expired," said county judge Connie Scott.

If it had, the county had planned to moving up the transition date for its move to the more secure nuecescountytx.gov domain, Scott said, but with its original domain reinstated, it allows the county to proceed with a more gradual transition.

"I have no idea what the final date will be," she said. "Now we're just going back to the original plan. Still transitioning, but not in such a rush."

She said the confusion exposed gaps in past processes she hopes to iron out so that they're not problems for future administrations.

"The fact that we didn't get the notice, the fact that it expired and no one had purchased the domain, and the original employee that had set it up was no longer here, so there were some complications with that," she said. "So it brought to light some changes that we need to make in the future on any of these policies as well, because this was bought and set up 10 years ago.

While the website is fully functional for those who have business with the county, the city of Corpus Christi has its own web page for residents seeking voting information in Tuesday's election.
