Delayed reopening of two southbound lanes on I-37 causes traffic headaches Wednesday morning

TxDOT said that a construction issue caused the lane reopenings to be delayed until 10:30 a.m., despite a scheduled to reopen earlier that morning.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — TxDOT said that two southbound lanes on I-37 are now open after construction delays caused traffic to standstill early Wednesday.

The lanes reopened around 10:30 a.m., per the Department of Transportation.

The department's public information officer, Rickey Dailey said that the contractor who was installing beams on the southbound portion of the Nueces River Bridge ran into unexpected complications, which caused traffic to move slowly the next morning.

The lanes were supposed to reopen at 6 a.m.
